Adult Decodable Readers

Description

The Cracking the ABC Code decodable books for adults series consisting of 13 books. The books have been designed to help beginning adult readers develop decoding and fluency skills.

Each book uses decodable content words which students can read using their current phonic knowledge.

Although the books can be used independently, they are designed to be used in conjunction with the ‘First Steps to Reading for Adults‘ program.

Each book focuses on different graphemes and the introduction of these graphemes match the Cracking the ABC Code First Steps to Reading for Adults program. This knowledge is cumulative in that once a grapheme has been introduced words containing those graphemes will continue to be used in subsequent books.

In addition, the books gradually introduce students to 46 high frequency words which they currently don’t have the phonic knowledge to decode. These words are also introduced in the First Steps to Reading for Adults program. Once a high frequency word has been introduced, it is continually used throughout the series.
